with a history of almost one century. According Carl Orff, OS should remain open and capable to adapt itself in space, time and varied sociocultural context. This paper investigates OS&#8217;s evolution and its transition from the 20th to the 21st century through the study of the actors and institutions that represent it. This paper argues that the end of 20th century finds OS in a deep crisis. Nevertheless, after the second half of the first decade of the 21st century we seem to have entered a new period of redefinition.
